Still Feathering My Nest

A good Thursday to you!!!
Today I am joining Jo over at Secret Garden Cottage.  She has a lovely blog that is so worthy of a long look.

I am still playing around in the kitchen.  If you saw my header, you will know that pink has established itself quite nicely here.

I made a sign for my hubby for Father's Day, I have put it on the wall above the stairs that lead down to his office where, by the way, he has LOTS of books.  He was thrilled with it!

Oh dear, you can see the unfinished places on the wall at the bottom of the photo.  That should be our next project, I suppose.

One more photo of my kitchen and then on to another topic.

On Tuesday I was sitting on my back porch painting the sign that I just showed you and suddenly a hawk flew into the backyard and alighted on the bushes.  There are usually dozens of birds in the bushes, but at the moment there were none.  He sat for several seconds, no doubt saw me and decided to leave.  But what a thrill to see a hawk.  He had very large eyes and I could feel him looking at me!  This is not my photo, but rather one that I found on the Internet.  I have never seen a hawk, outside of a zoo.

Thank you for stopping by, be sure to leave me a comment and be sure to visit the Feather Your Nest Thursdays at  Secret Garden Cottage.

Hawks are gorgeous and scary, scary because they will hunt down small animals, even pets. So if you have a small pet, Cindy, please be careful with him in the vicinity!

As to what you've done inside... NEAT! Love that sign you made and the one that says "Open daily till 6" sign, too. Love the pink peonies you've incorporated into the kitchen and the wonderful blue book on the white chair and the crock with the number and so much more! :-)

Hi Cindy,
I'm loving all your signs! You're very talented! Your built in cabinet is so charming, especially the way you have it displayed.
The picture of the chair is my favorite, it! :)
Thanks so much for your kind words about my blog and for joining my party again! It's still going slowly (sorry!). I'll keep my fingers crossed. :)
Wow, that hawk is gorgeous! There probably weren't any other birds around because of him. We get them out here where I live, too.
Have a great day!
~ Jo :)

Hi again Cindy,
Just wanted to say - yay, you got your link back to your blog fixed in the comments! Way to go! :)
Also, I had accidentally reposted last weeks party instead of a new, blank linky tool (oops!) I hadn't noticed it until after you joined today. I've since fixed it, but your the only one who has entered so far. :( We'll see how it goes.
Thanks for the nice comment about my pitchers, BTW. :)
Hugs ~ Jo

Hi Cindy,
That book sign is so cute!! I really love your built in cabinets! Man, that would be so awesome!!

Too bad hubs doesn't want painted bricks.....maybe show him pictures...that's what I do when mine resists ideas ~ I show him pictures of what I have in mind & then he usually gets it & says, "Oh, ok~ that looks good." I swear sometimes they just don't understand our vision & where we're coming from. But then again your hubs might know exactly what he wants & just doesn't want painted bricks!!! ;)

Meanwhile if you can't paint you can just keep adding white accents, like you're already doing.

Take care!

Hey Cindy!
Wow, I would have sat there frozen staring at a hawk! How cool!

The sign is really neat! I bet your hubby loves it. My favorite pic of your kitchen is the one of the white chair with books and bottle on top.

I'm really loving all of your beautiful, homey touches in the kitchen, Cindy. You are having fun nesting and "foofing," aren't you? :)

I think the "house in Hooterville" kitchen remodel will begin in just a few weeks. I found someone who can do everything...demo the kitchen, build the cabinets and countertops, install the new flooring etc., and his prices are very reasonable so that has lifted a huge burden off my shoulders.

Everything looks so good at your house including the I have you know that stained woodwork in coming back in style. I was just in a mult-million home the other day and it had all stained woodwork. I like both, but don't want the up keep of painted. Thanks for visiting .

Hi Cindy,
Thanks for dropping by today and commenting. About using glaze or stain over paint, I have a love/hate relationship with using it. On my bowl that I just blogged about, I wanted it to have an aged look so I used the glaze. But most of the time I prefer the clean look of new paint. I guess it's whatever mood I'm in! lol

Have a great weekend!

Hi Cindy,
Thanks so much for your encouraging words about my link party. I appreciate it a lot!! I did try to spread the word when I visited other bloggers, and I posted about it on my White Wednesday post, which got 50 comments, but still only 4 people joined (thank you, BTW). :) What can you do? I think I just don't have enough followers yet.

Also, thanks for your nice words about my bathroom. I love bead board, too. I would add more of it in my house if I could afford it.

I can't believe you have a smaller bathroom than mine! I thought that was impossible (lol)!! You definitely have a challenge on your hands, but at least it can still be cute, right? :)

Thanks again, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hugs ~ Jo
