The Unexpected

CSN is giving me a chance to review one of their products.  I will let you know what I think of it.
CSN Stores has over 200 online stores where you can find everything from modern dining room furniture to cute cookware to beautiful lighting pieces!  In fact no matter what you are looking for, for your home, you will find it or something like it at one of their online stores.  So I am looking forward to doing a little shopping myself.

My Pastor, his wife and their family went to Australia for the Christmas holiday and they brought back a tea towel for me.  When I saw it, I immediately thought that it would make a great pillow.  So I sewed it up and I am loving what it looks like.  An unexpected element in a room is a good thing, I have learned.  I have a couple of unexpected elements in my living room, actually.
The pillow...

...and how about an antique secretaries chair being used as an end table?

And this is my end table on the other side of the room.  The suitcase and the stool are yardsale finds.  The tray was made by my husband many years ago.  It is still one of my favorite items.  I have nice wooden end tables, but I prefer this look.
I guess it appeals to the quirky side of me.
(Oh dear, ignore the mess in the basket underneath it, funny what you don't see while taking a photo.)
How about you?  Do you have an unexpected element in one of your rooms that just feels good to you?   Tell me what it is.

I hope you are enjoying your day, we are experiencing a brilliantly sunny day with temps going lower and lower.  It should bottom out at about -24 Celsius tonight and then grow colder as the week progresses.  Good weather to snuggle in!

Cindy, that pillow is adorable! I just love it. And I also love CSN. I won a giveaway they had and was thrilled with the products that were being given away... two cute, easy to clean casserole dishes which I have enjoyed. I did, however, do something stupid to one of them. Don't ask! LOL!

Hello Cindy,

I LOVE all of your "unexpecteds". How clever to use the antique secretary chair as an end table. I love how the pillow you made just pops on the white sofa. You did a great job! Thanks for sharing and your inspiration on the the unexpected.

Enjoy your evening,

Cindy, I love the pillow! It adds a pop of colour on your white sofa. Your decorating style is wonderful and fun with unique ideas. I like the Canada Bread box on top of the armoir too. The white chairs on either side of the armoir look like children's chairs, or are they kitchen chairs. Your home looks lovely. It is colder here today at -10 from -18 this morning and will be -20 tomorrow morning but +2 on Wed. Go figure! Canadian weather eh?
Have a great week.

Hi Cindy, I love your furniture, and pillow or cushion that looks like you made an unexpected focal point in the room, in harmony. I've always believed that home is a reflection of those who live in it, and I love your style. In these days I'm wondering if white-painted chairs are old, but I've seen white and look much more beautiful! I love to recycle and change things, so when we visit only original observations. blessings, Rose Marie

Yup, we have had such cold days here too--cold for SC anyways--in the 20's F. I don't have much of the unexpected right now as my hubby is so into anti-clutter downsizing mind. He doesn't even want me to paint any color on the walls--he is really into simplifying. I do have some old ashtrays I use for candle holders ;-). As far as your idea about the extra plates, I thought something similar when I saw the pictures---it is weird how pictures make it different than seeing it in real life. I am debating about more or less (as my hubby wants)....I haven't had the time to purchase more hangers and with my grandbaby coming and so much work going on at the cottage....I am swamped. But I will be thinking on these things, for sure !

Hi Cindy!
What a surprise to see that bright Australian flag displayed on your lovely white couch. It looks great! I like the little kangaroo tucked in beside it, also the accents of red in the books and basket. Beautiful end table chair.
Is CSN on line shopping only? We have the Target chain as well as IKEA here.
Sending warm breezes across the ocean to you. Have a happy week.

That pillow is so divine! Looks very high end. And you know I'm all over pillows. My unexpected element is the pink pillows. How sweet of your friend to remember you! What a treasure!

Darling Cindy I didn't know you were a so good tailor!! Your pillow is sooo cute!!
Actually I'm trying to sew some new pillowcover for my bed, two white and two with rose white and pale blue, but I've so little time to dedicate it...!
I love how your home is becoming!!
Have a nice day and a big hug my darling

That sounds verrrrrrrrry cold. Brrr....I hope you can keep your house all toasty and warm.

I love flag cushions. And that's such a good ida to use a tea-towel. I have one with a Union Jack - in fact, I think I'd put Union Jacks all over if my husband didn't rein me in!! I try to limit myself to one per room!

Oh Cindy,
Love the unexpected elements in your room. The pillow from the dish towel turned out awesome, love it and the pop of color it adds. One of my favorite unexpected elements in my home is found in my kitchen...I added chicken wire to a couple of my cabinet doors. I love the look and have gotten a few mixed reviews...Hee, hee, hee. Wishing you a wonderful day my dear friend.

Much love,

What a great idea to make a pillow out of a towel! It looks so good and definitely pops. I love whatever it is you have on top of that china cabinet, it says Canada it some sort of a box maybe?

I agree, Archibald Leach was a very unfortunate name. Thank goodness he was able to change it! Have a wonderful day:)
