It was Saturday afternoon and I decided that I was going to make myself a dress for Easter. I had some great flow-y lavender colored, linen like fabric and a pattern that I had used before. I had the dress pictured in my mind and thankfully it turned out just like I had hoped. I love the gray flower on it, too. It's an understated dress, plain and pretty, but very much ME.
Did you know that:
The custom of new clothes for Easter began when the early Christian converts were baptized the day before Easter. After their baptism, they put on new clothing to show their new life in Christ!
New clothes are exciting and they give us an emotional lift, but we should always remember how this tradition began and celebrate our inner life in Christ mre than our outward display of new clothes.

I have also been making flowers for hair or to pin on a top, take a look and tell me if you like them.
You will find a tutorial for the pink rosette HERE.
The flower above is called a Ruched flower and the tutorial for that is HERE.
The tutorial for this one is HERE. I glued it to a simple yo-yo. You can just google how to make those, they are super easy. Have fun!
I am teaching the girls in my Today's Christian Girl club to make these, I think they are really it. If you go HERE, you can find tutorials on dozens of different kinds of flowers.
Tell me which ones you like best, of the ones that I have made.
Tell me which ones you like best, of the ones that I have made.
Have a good day all!
Hugs,

Ok, I'm starting to get jealous of your tailored clothes! Great dress and all in one day! Wow! I love the little flowers. Sure wish you'd post a tutorial. I like the teal one. We saw some like these this weekend and Morgan is wanting to know how to make the rosettes (pink one.) They were selling them as pins, multiples with lace, etc. Just darling!
I did not know the tradition of the new clothes. That's neat!
Look at you! You look fabulous in your new Easter dress. Ooooo, and love all your little flower pins...You are asking me to pick a favorite?!? But I like them all. However if I must pick one it would be the rose one...or maybe the second to the last one. It's just too hard to pick only one :-) Hope you had a wonderful Easter my dear friend.
Much love and hugs,
♥Ana
Great looking dress! I think I like the ruched rosette best.

Hi Cindy,
I love your dress! and you are just so beautiful in it.
I remember sewing all my dresses and I made my girls dresses when they were small and then their their high school prom dresses. Those were the days. You sew so perfectly and the fit is perfect! I wish we lived closer. The flowers are fun and very creative, my favorite's are the brown one third one down and the ruched flower..
Have a sweet day and big hugs, Elizabeth

Wow, you made yourself a dress! That's quite a project, especially if you don't have a mannequin your size and shape. Good for you, and so pretty!
Cindy, this is just wonderful! I am so impressed with your sewing skills. You are VERY talented, and I adore what you made... the dress and the roses.
And I never knew that about Christian's, baptism, and new Easter clothes! What a fascinating fact! That makes me want to get a new dress every year. I wore something I had before, but knowing this changes things for me. Thanks for that info!
Sending you hugs, Cindy. I was so excited to read that you have seen so many of the Royal Family. That's SO neat! I'm glad you liked my tie in to the Lord. He really is the greatest royal ever, and we who believe are all His brothers and sisters. Pretty neat, I'd say!
XO,
Sheila :-)
The dress is so you. And you have a lovely figure for it.
