Loving Turquoise

Hello my friends,
yesterday I showed you how I had rearranged  my living room.  Today I want to show you how I have added bits of turquoise here and there.

I like the lighter colored books here, in yesterday's post I had black books on the mantel.

Details...

...details.

Altogether now...

I love that particular Norman Rockwell picture.  It is a quintessential Summer picture.

I love my old sideboard, it is a Canadiana antique, I think.  It was given to our family in 1969 when I was just 11 years, but I admired it then and always told my mom that I wanted it when she tired of it.  That is why I have it now.  It was painted a dark brown, I stripped and varnished it.  But I would like to paint it again, white maybe?

My one and only turquoise jar filled with my beautiful large lily-of-the-valley.

I will let the lamp wear my flower until I need it, then I will borrow it for a while.

There is the lovely little piece of fabric that my daughter sent me that got me to thinking about adding turquoise to my decor.  It's all thanks to her.  I like the lighter and brighter look in my living room.  Tell me what you think of it and if you have any ideas for adding more, I'm always open to suggestions.

Thank you for visiting and a special thanks to my friend at Beatrice Banks for featuring my blog today and a delighted "hello" to the lovely girls who are here because of her.  I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Hugs,

It was so nice that you were mentioned at Beatrice Banks blog today! I love the touches of turquoise you've added. I meant to mention that I love your ruffled lamp shade and the flower pin is a nice addition until you need it. :-) I have never seen lily of the valley that large before. Is is a different variety?
Painting the dresser? It would look nice in a warm white wouldn't it? Can't wait to see what you do with it. Blessings, Pamela

Love how the turquoise brightens things up. I just bought another globe and an old camera yesterday. I also bought a map and was admiring the turquoise color. Thinking I might use it to brigthen up one of the boys' rooms.
Have a great evening! It was fun posting about you. You're an angel!

No no no don't paint that piece especially if it's Canadiana!!!! It's a beautiful wood and the value will go right down. Canadiana pieces are so sought after especially here in the Valley. I had an antique dealer ask me slyly if i had any Canadiana or pine pieces from back East!!! He was dying to get his hands on it!

Tammy did a great post about you!

There's something about that color turquoise---love it! Maybe it reminds us of the 1950s, not sure.

Hi Cindy, I was just visiting Tammy at Beatrice Banks and she had such lovely things to say about you. Your home is just beautiful and I agree, please don't paint that beautiful Canadiana piece. Some things are just meant to be left alone. I'm now your newest follower!

Hi Cindy, I love your touches of turquoise. I have my mom's old Better Homes & Gardens cookbook and it has lots of touches of turquoise in it!
I recently painted my bedroom chocolate and have added touches of turquoise including a kaleidoscope that is featured on my post tonight. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Cindy,
You have done a nice job with the re-arranging of your living room and to bring in a bit of turqoise! So summerly! Beautiful!
Your house looks so lovely and you so feel the warmth of the people who are living there! I mean this!
Cindy, thank you so much for your sweet comment on my garden post! Yes, Jan and me have built the house new. We have put some 2 years in it to search for the right architect and Jan has drawn all the details on it and put the roof by himself and all the gardening! He is sooo handy Cindy, I am very lucky with him!
We also have searched a long time to find the right reclaimed materials, so this is why you would think that it is 100-years old house. This was our intention! I am so glad you love it! Maybe you ever visit Belgium and then you can stay with us some days!!
Kiss,
Greet

Isn't it nice to lighten things up for summer? Your old dresser is so pretty - I'd resist the urge to paint it white - it's nice to have one thing a little different, and the passion for white will pass, while the classic lines of this old piece will endure.

Being a fellow turquoise fan, I love it! I especially noticed the old lamp post piece on your mantle - at least I think that's what it is. It's so pretty!

Oh Cindy...love, love, love the touches of turqoise! Turqoise reminds me of water...Water reminds me of beaches and swimming pools and beaches and pools remind me of Summer! I love it :-) Wishing you a wonderful Sunday my dear friend.
