~Welcome Summer~

The first day of Summer!

Welcome Summer, I wait all year long for you and you are finally here, and I am filled with gratitude.

The one project that I dearly wanted to have finished by the first of Summer was my screened in porch.  It's small, probably 9 feet wide by about 16 feet long, but it's a place to get away from the mosquitoes.
And it's a cozy place now.

Welcome to my Porch.

This wash tub stand, that I'm using as a coffee table is a curbside find.  I also found a wash tub, but there's no room in here for it.  The flat, long wooden box is where I store my barbeque utensils.  I picked it up on our Free Day.

Would you believe I found a step ladder at the same place that I found the long ladder.  The wood is very worn and has great patina.

I put my vintage seed bag on it.
I think it looks so wonderful!!!
I am loving the flea-market style of decorating out here.  It suits it so well, I think.

My dear husband helped me put this little rattan couch out here today and I covered it in a vintage chenille spread with some old embroidered pillowcases on the pillows.

You can see the trees and feel the breeze when you are in this little space of mine.  I plan to replace all of the blinds and add sheers.  Those will definitely have to be thrift store finds, because I need six of them.  I will show them to you when I find them.

There is an old trunk that my husband found on someone's curb, it holds the recycle bin.  Next to that and over a bit is a bookshelf for our shoes.  It needs a coat of white paint as does the table and chairs that you see above.
We are Canadians, eh, and Canadians do not wear their outside shoes indoors.
So most of them stay out here.
We also plan to replace the horrible old rug in here and paint the brown walls and ceiling a lovely white!

You can just barely see the old ice-chest that I got at a garage sale for $2.00, it adds some nice color to the room.
I am joining A Delightsome Life for Savoring Summer and Rose Colored Glasses for Rhondi's Porch Party.

Sometimes the best way to savor Summer is from inside, so this is where I will be, if you need me.

Have a delightful day!

I love your flea market style porch, Cindy!
the couch is lovely and looks so comfy too.

Old habits die hard: I'd love to leave my shoes by the door, but... we don't. }frown{

So glad summer is here for you. I'm waiting on the fall! Pat

Your screened in porch is lovely, Cindy. You need it against the mosquitoes where you are! That's one thing about southern Vancouver Island - no mosquitoes!

Hi Cindy,
Lovin' the flea market style you have going on in your screened porch. The room has such a cozy and inviting feel to it. Love all the sweet treasures you have in there too.

Much love,

Cindy, I love your screened porch. It reminds me of the one we had while I was growing up though it was mostly windows with only 2 small screened openings. I love the chenille spread on your couch and the coffee table. I think white paint will surely brighten the room up. And the best part is is that it's mosquito-free! Love and hugs, Pam

I love your porch. And I love the way you have fixed it up. And I just realized we both are PKs.

I have a white porch and I love it. But it is hard to keep clean with the mildew in the south and the pollen. So I am always cleaning it. Probably where you live a white porch would not be that difficult to keep looking nice. Just an FYI !!!! If I had it to do over again I probably still would have chosen white. It even helps to lighten the room inside which is now darker because of the porch. :-) Happy first day of summer!

Hi Cindy, the truth is that you become your porch in a very cozy and pleasant. Each piece you used to, it is very accurate, especially your coffee table and lined wicker furniture is a success. You are correct in every detail! greetings. Rose Marie

Hi Cindy! I have to agree with you on fleamarket style on the porch. I felt like I was at home here, only better because yours is enclosed! I have found that sheers are both easy and cheap to find at thrift stores. I hope that's true for you too. I'm lovin seeing everyone's porches this time of year. Hanging out on the porch is one of the delightful holdovers from an earlier time. Have a wonderful first week of summer!

But I like the old rug. I thought it was a purposeful piece. I love the whole room. I want one. Or something that would work here. And, again, I wish for someone to do it for me.
