Happy Canada Day

Happy Birthday, Canada!!!
Today our beautiful country turns 144 years old!
In 1867 Canada gained independence from Great Britain.
Canada's last step in becoming completely independent was in 1982 when our then Prime Minister Trudeau brought home the Constitution.  That made us officially independent.  We no longer had to ask Great Britain to amend it for us.
So you can see how young we really are.

Our flag was adopted in February of 1965.

Parliament Hill, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Canada has 10 provinces and three territories.

Canada covers a land area of 9,976,140 square kilometers.  The second largest country in the world.
We only have a population of about 33 million, though, so we rely heavily upon immigration.  So if any of you wish to immigrate, I'm sure you will be welcomed with open arms.
We have approx. 600,000 more sq. kilometers than the USA, yet their population is ten times what ours is.

We have only 3.3 people per square kilometer!

This vast country stretches from the warm Pacific Ocean...

Tsawwassen, B.C.

...encompasses the Rocky Mountain Range, as well as several others...

...the Prairies are in the middle...
Manitoba Legislature Building
Winnipeg is the Capitol of Manitoba

(Manitoba is in the geographical center of Canada, but the text books refer to Ontario as being "Central Canada".)
Legislative Building in Ottawa, Ontario, Capitol of Canada
Ontario, land of 10,000 lakes
The Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)  in Quebec
Charlottetown, PEI
...and finishes up at the Atlantic Ocean on our Eastern side.

I hope you have enjoyed just a few photos of and facts about our beautiful country.

Happy Birthday Canada and Happy Canada Day to all of my Canadian readers.

It was showering when I got up this morning, but the sky has cleared and I am expecting another gorgeous day!  Yesterday was about 38 deg. C. (100 deg. F), today we are told it will only reach 25 deg. C (77 deg. F), we shall see!

Happy Canada Day Cindy!
What a beautiful and vast country you live in. I have met some lovely Canadian folk (especially you) through blogging. Thanks for your informative post. There is so much of Canada I would love to visit. I've had a desire to travel the Canadian-Pacific railway in an observation car since seeing the advertisements in National Geographic magazines
when I was about twelve years old. You live in a beautiful country.

Happy Canada day, beautiful post, I'm an immigrant and I love this country, to me it's the best country in the world, however I must add in most cases it's very hard to fill the requirements to get a residence in Canada, and you need a residence to eventually become a Canadian citizen.

Oh Canada, Oh Canada. I once had neighbors who were from Canada. They sang their song for me. I really enjoyed it, but that's all I can remember. I have been to Canada twice and loved it. Definately beautiful country! Hope you had a happy day.

Hi, Cindy. I love all your photos and Canada history. The northern lights photo is awesome. That is very fascinating. When we traveled across America and some in Canada, we saw the northern lights occasionally and were always amazed by the dancing lights. Have a blessed day!
