A Vintage Birthday Card

The fourth of August was my mom's birthday, she has been gone now for seventeen years, but I have lots of sweet memories and lots of photos of her.

Something else that I have is a birthday card that she received when she was ten years old.  Isn't this special?  It is from 1945.

It appears to be from her cousin Lucille and her Aunt Ethel, from California.

I love the old keepsakes that I have.  I have several of her cards and photos.

They are in my kitchen...my living room...

...I have them everywhere, seeing them every day brings me a lot of joy.

These are on the window sill near my computer.
Do you enjoy old photos of your family?  Do you have them where you can see them every day?

I am joining Good Life Wednesday for the first time.  Go over and say hello to Sarah.

Have a beautiful day, my friends and thanks so much for stopping by for a quick visit, be sure to leave me a comment, then I can be sure to visit you back!

Hi Cindy, what a sweet card and what a sweet keepsake to still have.

You are right in remembering that you had some fun summers in Oklahoma when you were younger. The weather here is usually fine and just normal seasons. But July was the hottest month ever in Oklahoma since records were started back in the 1800s. August is shaping up to be a record breaker too.
It was 110 in my town today :(
I am glad your Okie aunts are staying in and making do the best they can.

What a great post Cindy! How wonderful it is that you have all these great keepsakes. Love all the old family photos you have around too. We have a lot of old family photos also. I don't have them out and displayed. There all in photos albums but we love looking through them, reminising! Martina

Lovely post. I know memories are important but I think the tangible things are just as necessary when you've lost someone you love. Something to hold and look at. Your photos are wonderful. Aren't you amazed that your mom kept that card all those years? Have a great week and enjoy these dog days of summer.

The birthday card is very special and I am glad you have it . My Mom has some cards from her childhood which I will take care of someday. The cards from the past are so sweet in their simplicity.

What a sweet card. I save every card I receive knowing someday they will be some of my most cherished possessions with the signatures of my loved ones. Especially the ones filled with notes from my Mom. Love the little grouping of frames.

Hi Cindy! How sweet to have this olden birthday card of your mother's. I love to see photos of my relatives too. The ones whom I've never met but she their faces, makes me wonder about their personalities, likes and the such.
Pretty little site on your ottoman.

Love this post about Mom even though seeing in print how long she has been gone brought me such pain. How could she have been gone from us for so long?!
I love old family photos too. Your picture frames on the window sill are sweet. The keyhole frame is darling & so unique!

What a treasure the card is! Yes, I, too, have many old family pictures displayed where I can see them every day. As well as many old family "things", like dishes, furniture, etc.

It was nice to see the memories of your family you have throughout your house. my parents are here and there and I love seeing their faces in various frames throughout the house. Thanks for the picture of the red and yellow quilt that was on the rocking chair last time you posted. I recently got a collection of small pieces of children's fabric and was thinking about how to frame them in a quilt. I have my answer now!

Thank you for sharing those beautiful pictures of Grandma :) She was such an elegant woman, I love those pictures of her, and you have them in such beautiful frames! Her daughters sure do a great job demonstrating her character, I'm sure she would have been SO proud of the 3 of you!

Lovely post. The years pass so quickly. Only 2 more years and I will be the age she was when she died. That seems so hard to believe. We are so mortal. So many sweet memories. I still miss her so. My blessing is that my newest daughter-in-law shares her birthday.
Thanks,
Judy
