A Christmas Mantle

This is the week for Christmas blog parties.
I have shown bits and pieces of my mantle and today I will show it in it's entirety.  I am just so glad that I have a mantle to decorate, it's one of my favorite areas to play with the decor.
I used fresh greenery on it this year, I will probably have to buy more shortly, this is drying out badly.
The pine cones, poinsettias and a gold Christmas ball or two are all the glitz that it needs with the wonderful lights that I have on it.

Doesn't that look like something straight out of the black and white photo era?  I found the little antique table that is sitting in front of the fireplace, at a thrift shop for $7.99, I grabbed hold of that table so fast, you'd have thought there were others there grabbing for it as well.  (Which there wasn't.)  But I was not going to let that one get away from me.  A couple of people asked me about it on my way to the cashier, but it was mine!

Night time is not the best time to take photos, everything glows!

I hope you are enjoying another week, the count down is getting closer to the big day!

It was -23 Celsius when I woke up this morning, it went up to -11 deg C.  It was lovely for walking, I had a friend over for lunch and we went for a walk.  It sure makes you appreciate a warm house when you are done!
I'm joining this party today!

Have a listen to a 16 year old Winnipeg, Manitoba boy, sing and play "Little Drummer Boy".  This went viral today!  He is pretty amazing.  It shows some beautiful scenes from around our city, too.

Have a great day my lovely friends,
Warm hugs,

Cindy, you were wise to grab that table and run. It is so pretty and is in the perfect spot between the chairs. Your living room looks lovely. It has a warm and cozy feel and I guess warmth is what you need with those temperatures.

You are indeed lucky to have a mantle. It looks so pretty and inviting with the soft lights. The black and white photos are lovely.
I can't imagine how cold that must be Cindy! I think I would find it difficult to leave the warmth!
The video has got me into the mood for Christmas.....lovely scenes and a familiar carol.

Cindy that video was amazing....I loved it and I love your fireplace mantel! You're right, the first photo does indeed look like something straight out of the black & white era! I also love your new find and the way you have displayed it in front of the fireplace. You have done such a beautiful job creating such a warm and cozy space my friend.

Cindy your fireplace is simply beautiful! I love the shape of it's firebox. As you may remember I have a new mantle to decorate this year, and also have lights up...but I am having trouble hiding the cord from the lights. How do you do it as I don't see any!

Like the way he is playing with snow on the drums and he is wearing his Olympic mitts and shorts! Typical Canadian – LOL! Very beautiful city pictures – recognize several scenes from my visit there in September. Your mantle is beautiful. I like my mantle and ‘Love’ my fireplace when I get back in from my cold walks.

Love your fireplace and mantle. I wish I had one to decorate too. That sounds like a very cold walk to me! I have seen this video on facebook and shared it. What a talented young man. I didn't know he's only 16. He plays drums at the church friends of ours attend in Winnipeg. What a gift! I hope today is warmer for you. Blessings and hugs, Pam

Your picture reminds me of the outdoor Bethlehem they have here on the island in Parksville. It is a huge major event........and while you wait to get in or out....can't remember you walk past a setting just like yours with actors replaying days gone past Christmases!

It look so nice...

Your comment about the table is exactly what I would have done.....good thing we live far apart. LOL

Only a Canadian prairie boy would be dressed like that with that much snow!!!!!!!!!!

Your b&w photo does long like a trip back in time! Your mantle looks great, especially
since you have our real Christmas gift, Jesus,
as the center of attention.
That table was really a deal and it is a treasure. I love it's old styling with the spindle legs and design.
You are way ahead of me with your decorating.
Maybe this weekend I'll have time to start on it.

Your mantel is charming, Cindy! So fun in black and white, it does seem like a vintage photo! Loved the video!

Indeed the black and white picture feels very retro! Beautiful my dear! As your mantle piece looks!!

Very pretty! I love the way you've made your mantel reflect the style of the rest of your house. The whole fireplace area is so welcoming. Who wouldn't want to snuggle into one of those wing chairs for a cup of tea and a natter?
That wee table was a steal!

Hi Cindy,
How beautiful and cozy your fireplace looks..You know I haven't decorate yet....I know its so bad.
I have been so busy sewing blankets for the grandkids. Maybe I'll have Gary put up our small tree for me since he is (retired)....LOL
You have been having cold weather, I thought our 32 at night was bad...keep warm by your beautiful fireplace and pretty Christmas lights.
Big hugs my friend, Elizabeth

Your fireplace looks lovely with the table set for tea and the angels above. Glad to hear that the weather warmed up a bit. The video of your local boy is terrific. I bet his mom would have liked to see him dressed in warmer clothing!

Hi Mom! That's a really neat rendition of Little Drummer Boy. And Winnipeg looks so pretty all covered in snow! As usual, you did a lovely job of decorating your mantle/living room. Understated, but festive, and so cozy! You made me laugh out loud with your story about buying that cute little table; don't mess with my Mom and a good thrift store find! Love you!
