I Covered my Gold Colored Blind

Good Monday Morning to you, my friends, thanks so much for coming by today.
I have covered my golden brown colored blind with a white canvas fabric. I have said before that I am on a mission to cover up all of the golden-browns in my house and this is one of the last that I have.
 Pulled up...

BEFORE:

After:

Let down after:

I used a white-on-white fabric on the valance and edged it with the same, just to give it a little bit of interest. It's pretty plain though, I have thought of stenciling a bird in the middle, but I'm not sure about that.

Here is a photo of my living room in the middle of the day with the light coming in. The walls appear to be more off-white and not so yellow-y. I purchased a new sisal rug at HD for $97, can't beat the price and it's the perfect color.

Back to the kitchen, I also made a small shade for this small window. When the sun comes through that window it blinds the person sitting at the table facing it. I'm not real happy with this shade, I think I can do something to make it look more attractive.

I have got to find another editing program, I had cropped the picture above to cut out the light fixture, but apparently it didn't save it. I have no idea why...frustrating.

We got another couple of inches of snow yesterday, it is really feeling like Winter today. It was -19 Celsius when I woke up this morning at 6 am.
Have a beautiful day, my friends and thank you so much for your encouraging words on Friday. You told me I could do it and I believed you, the slip-covers are all cut out and now I am off to sew them up!

Big hugs, Cindy

Another fantastic make over - the blind looks great. Can't wait to see how you change the blind in the small window. Your living room looks really pretty. You must be excited about how the new slipcovers will change it even more! Have a sew-tastic day!

You are so smart to cover the blinds like that! It looks wonderful. I also like the blue walls in your kitchen.

Good morning Cindy
your blink makeover looks amazing.
And I have no advice on photo editing. I tried my hand at it once, got frustrated and have not tried it again.

It only cooled off to 49 here last night, I know your snow is pretty but I am really enjoying our mild winter.

I can't keep up with you! You are always improving something! I love both shades. The white blends well in your kitchen. I noticed your blue teacup to accent your walls, too.
I expect you'll have those chair covers done in no time too. I'm looking forward to seeing them. They would be a BIG challenge for me!

Of course you can do it - just look what you've accomplished! I love the kitchen blind that you re-covered. I'd be tempted to leave it as is and let the detail develop around it.
Can't wait to see the slipcovers.

Hi Cindy! Oh, I love what you did with your blinds! You're always coming up with wonderful ideas! I was scrolling down to see what I've missed and I love love love your fireplace redo! I too love the thick mortar showing and I love the color of the bricks you chose! He did a beautiful job!
Thanks for popping in and hope you're doing well.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

You are so clever. I use photobucket. Pretty basic but easy.

Cindy, I love the way you covered the blind! You are so clever! Are you using Picasa for cropping? You have to got to "File" and click on "save a copy" and it will save a separate copy of the edited photo. It took me a while to figure this out. lol That's how I do mine withe the watermark, frames, etc. Do all the steps on one photo then 'save a copy'. I noticed as I'm making comments today that Blogger has changed the look of the comment section. Hmmmm. More changes. Can't wait to see your slip covers! Hugs, Pamela

Hi Cindy,
WOW! I love how everything is turning out..Very creative of you covering the blind, I adore your new brick fireplace. I have always loved brick and its still an option we can do for our "blue fireplace". Your fireplace is beautiful! I think the turquoise is really pretty in your kitchen, but then your kitchen is to die for.
Ana is an amazing girl we also exchanged hearts, it was a fun and sweet thing to do.

Have a sweet week full of sweet moments, and keep warm..
Big hugs, Elizabeth

What a difference, huh???

Your living room looks SO light and inviting....and I'm not sure what's not to like about the fabric on the little kitchen window? Does it not keep out the light? It looks simply lovely on the picture (to me)...

Wowee!
We had a house full of orangey-gold wood blinds when we moved in. I couldn't get rid of them fast enough! That color depresses me! LOL!
You did such a professional job!

Dear Cindy,
Two more great projects done! You will soon run out of things to renovate. I think you will need a holiday soon:) The lounge looks lovely and light with your new rug. Love the little touches of aqua here and there.

Brilliant job on covering the shade. I would have never come up with that idea. Hope the slipcovers are coming along well. Today it was 69 here. I walked Kelly and it really felt like spring (or almost summer.) Hope you are having a great week!

THAT is the most brilliant idea I have seen in a long long time. I love it .

looks like the crop out worked. I find with my photobucket it can take some hours before the editing shows up which is frustrating. I like the cover thing for the shade you did--really a nice touch and an improvement.
