Hello my friends,
my fireplace mantel is finally finished and so...I have another before and after to show you!
This is the original fireplace in my 1927 Craftsman Bungalow.
Before:
This is what it looked like after my son, the bricklayer, refaced it with old re-claimed brick. To see more about that go here.
The last thing that I wanted was a new mantel on the "new" fireplace.
After:
My husband built it, then I painted and glazed it a tiny bit. I'm thinking that perhaps it needs a little more glazing.
I'm joining Nita @ Mod Vintage Life, for Mod Mix Monday.
I'm also joining Knick of Time where they featured me this week! Thanks so much to their lovely hostess, Angie!
Have a great week, my friends, and thanks so much for coming by!
Hugs,
Cindy
This pretty much concludes the makeover of my living room and eating area, it's been fun, but I'm glad to see it done. Perhaps one day I'll do a before and after of the entire thing, it's come a long way, I think.

What a pretty mantel! I adore your welcome banner.
Thank you for showing the last picture with an overview of your area. So many times our pictures are just of a vignette or such and it is hard to imagine what the house flow looks like.Yours is lovely!
Oh Cindy, your new mantel looks beautiful! I'm glad you painted it white and beefed up the trim. Your hubby did a great job. I also like the sweet welcome banner. Your room is changed for the better and says "Welcome". Now you can relax. :) Hugs, Pam
It's so much better! So nice for you.

Really, really nice! I can tell that you're happy with the results - and well you SHOULD be :)
Hi Cindy, Wow! I love the change. You know I love the white and colored, I think this change has favored home! Greetings, Rose M.
wow you get a lot done at your house ...it looks awesome!!!
Cindy
The mantel looks great. Your fireplace reminds me of mine, alot. Mine is from 1939. My red bricks seem dull anymore. I need to research to see what I can do to spruce them up!
Wow! The mantel just makes it! Isn't it perfect now? It looks so great in your room. Well, the whole room looks great. Absolutely love it.
Oh Cindy! It looks amazing. It must be wonderful surrounded by so many talented men! LOL. They did a great job. The display on top and the banner make it look even better.
When you first mentioned changing your fireplace, I couldn't see a reason why. Oh me of little vision! I love this!! So light, bright and fresh! Very vintage too. All I can say is wow!
WOW Cindy! You, your husband and son has done an AWESOME make-over! You have definitely achieved the look you were going for. I love it all!! Now take a break and enjoy your new space my friend. You deserve it! Hugs, Gail

You need to sit back and enjoy all you have accomplished. You are finished just in time for spring and spending time outdoors. The mantel is stunning. I think it's perfect without more glaze but you are the expert! Have a good rest of the week and put your feet up. :o)
What a lovely mantle. Good job Raymond! Your living room would look welcoming even without the cute welcome banner. You must be so pleased with all of the work you have put in. Now you can rest and enjoy your spring!
xoxo Sue
Oooh, I love it Cindy. It's perfect. Great job Hubby! :-)By the way, the last picture looks like it is straight out of a magazine. Beautiful. Happy Spring my friend.
Much Love,
♥Ana
Very pretty!
Cindy- I have to agree with Mary Ellen- so glad that you included the over view of the two spaces. I think it looks so lovely together!
Your Mantel and fireplace are wonderful. I bet you're so smitten with the husband for getting your little items done! You two make a wonderful team. {smile}

This more substantial mantel looks like it goes with the fireplace better Cindy. I'm sure this was a lot of work, but it was obviously done with a lot of love in your family. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Oh, Cindy! Your new fireplace looks wonderful! I love it and I love the mantel painted white too! You've certainly decorated it beautifully too! Congratulations on being featured!
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
it is beautiful! Pretty re-dos like yours are why I rarely read magazines anymore. Your pictures and projects are real and more interesting than anything I've seen a magazine.
Enjoy your hard work!
Cindy your mantel is perfect. Beautiful!
Your husband did well. I love the white mantel--just transforms it all. You've done such a lovely transformation...it's nice to see it from this perspective! Great last photo!
That turned out beautifully, Cindy! And it is perfect in your room now! It must be fun to see all the completed projects!
Oh , I do hope you do a total before and after post. It is nice to finish a project, but knowing you you will be tweaking things. I do love the natural wood mantle--I sometimes like the natural wood and the woodsie feel it gives me. The white is nice too because it gives a brightness to the room. We are supposed to have the tile put in our kitchen and dining area next week and I surely hope I will like the results, but if not, we can always throw on some rugs!
What a great remake! Love it. I really love the last picture with a view of the entire room--awesome.
The mantel is just perfect! Love it and the cute banner. Your slipcovers rock! I think you did such a good job on those.
Yes,I'd love to see a whole before and after post on your living room!
