Small Bedrooms and the Winner!

If you've been reading my blog for very long you know that our cottage has about 900 sq ft on the main floor.  We have a basement with about the same sq ft there as well.  Most of the basement is a nicely finished space that my husband uses for his office and sitting room.  I am going to repaint it this year, then I will show it to you.
In a house this small, the bedrooms tend to be very small.  And that contributes to real problems sometimes.  I want my master bedroom to be attractive, naturally, but unfortunately I seem to be clueless as to how to make it so.
I've been prowling through Pinterest looking for inspiration.

This one is simple and pretty.  The mirrored doors on the closet are beautiful.  I wonder if that would work on my closet.

I love the colors used in this one.  The light turquoise walls and black and white linens.  Very nice, also very masculine, which I really like.

I really LOVE everything about this one, but not too sure that my husband would appreciate a flowing bedspread.  The colors are nice and neutral.  The old wood door is gorgeous.  I have a nice headboard, it just needs a good coat of paint and it will be very nice.

Isn't this one absolutely gorgeous?!?!   It makes my heart go pitter-patter, but I have a sneaky suspicion it would NOT do the same to my husband.  This room has about the same amount of space that I have to work with, though.  There isn't room at the end of my bed for a trunk, table or stool, though.
If this were my room, right directly behind the chair is where my closet is.  It covers the end wall, and is completely open to the room.  It drives me wild to have to look at the clothes.  We want to change it, but haven't come up with a workable solution yet.   Or should I say, an affordable solution, yet.

This last one looks like it's a tiny bedroom, I love the chandelier, window treatments and the shelving.  I like the idea of using white bedding, too.

Now for the winner of my giveaway.  I used the random number generator and it's number 21, Ana!!!  Congratulations Ana, I will be sending the Spring Banner to you real soon.
Thank you to everyone who joined in and so sweetly wished me a Happy Birthday, you all added to my joy.
Thank you for coming by, I love reading the comments that you leave.

Have a wonderful day my friends,

Hugs, Cindy

A belated happy birthday Cindy!

Looks like you have some beautiful inspirations to work from. I have friends who put up a substantial rod and hung fabric to cover an open closet. It looks good.

Great looks. I'm partial to the one with the shelves.

I love the second to last one, with the red curtains, and aqua walls. That headboard is beautiful. Great post!

I can't wait to see how you redo your bedroom, Cindy. You have such a "knack"...

I don't have a HUGE house at all, but look forward to downsizing a bit. I'm not that great a housekeeper and it's just the two of us, etc. etc.

A bedroom doesn't have to be big. We have a very large one right now, and all we do is sleep in it!
The trick is arrangement & organization to accommodate one's needs, isn't it?

(Glad you're feeling better, by the way.)

I love the first one with the mirrored closet doors. Mirrors would give the room a larger feel. Love my mirrored closet doors and they are not even fancy but I will miss them!! The room with the patterned curtains and turquoise walls is very beautiful too! Wow so many choices :) Cannot see what you come up with! I am looking forward to seeing the basement after you have painted it. Your house keeps you busy but 'how fun'!

The first one is my absolute favourite! So light and airy, and the mirrored wardrobes are elegant and yet practical. Very chic, but perfect for a small space. Looking forward to seeing what you end up doing.

Happy belated bday!! Love the photos of all the bedrooms. One has left me puzzled though. The very first one, does the reflection in the mirrors not match what is on the walls and bed?? I love that one the most and after looking at it so long the refection looked different. Maybe my old eyes need a check up;-)

blessings, jilly

Hope you're having a great week so far. Take care!

Great inspiration photos, Cindy. I think you just found my perfect closet door solution for our master bedroom with that first photo. For now we are using a curtain but I would love to find enough doors affordably to come up with that solution. Thanks for sharing.

So sorry to have missed your birthday, Cindy --hope you had a very happy day!

The bedrooms you've selected as examples are all very nice. I htink # 1 was my favorite as the mirrors would add light to a room and make it look larger.

It has been very busy for me in even more ways than my happy occasions as I am also in the process of clearing out my Mom's house, as we have a buyer for it. I've had to go through so much stuff as my Mom lived in her house 60+ years....lots of memories.

Beautiful choices for bedrooms but I like # 1 and 2 best. I love the mirrored doors with the muntons dividing them off. Small rooms are really hard to work with. We took 2 rooms and made one large one but I can't do anything with the furniture layout. Open the door and the bed is right in front of you! I'd like to rip it all apart but that isn't going to happen! lol You have some great ideas to incorporate into your rooms though. Hugs, Pam

I love all of your inspiration pics Cindy. It is amazing how efficient your decorating becomes when it has to be functional for a small space. I can so relate. :)

I love your bedroom collection! We are wanting to downsize with our next house if possible. So I'll be looking to see what you come up with. I already was blessed with an upholstered headboard. Hubby actually said he'd try to help me redo it. Then I'm going to sell my big bedroom furniture and go simple. I think it would be a nice change.
I'm so behind with blogging, didn't even know you had a giveaway! boo hoo!

Happy Birthday!

I love all your inspiration photos and I hope you'll find one the inspires you for your bedroom redo. If we have a vote at all I'd pick the first photo. I love how taliored and simple everything is plus the mirrors on the closet doors work great making the room look bigger.

We solved the doorless closet problem....twice....yikes!! The first one, we added a roll up matchstick blind...pretty cheap from any Walmart-ish store. The second time around :^), I made a curtain of drop cloths from the hardware store. There are lots of sizes available and you can hang them on a rod with curtain clips, curtain rings that you sew on, or just make a pocket in the top and slide it on like regular curtains. I used ribbons for tie backs for the times that I needed it open....ironing day...ugh....
