Hello my friends,
Like many of you, my summer company is now gone, sadly, and things are returning to normal.
The only company we had was our youngest girl, Marissa.
Here we are, embarking on our journey around "Lake of the Woods".
We were in Kenora, Ontario, over the Labor Day weekend. My hubby was preaching at a church there and so we were able to take in the sights with Marissa.
It was so much fun to show her a place that we've grown to love.
We had the pleasure of touring the lake on the MS. Kenora.
What a beautiful trip it was!
An island up close...
...further away.
There are 14,542 islands on Lake of the Woods. And the majority of it lies within the borders of the USA.
This is a humongous house that is built on one of the many islands. The house is called the Castle. There are actually three house in this spot.
A cottage on a tiny island.
I would LOVE to spend my summer's there.
And we're back to the beautiful little town of Kenora.
The boat trip took an hour and a half, it went by so quickly.
The building above is an example of the architecture of the buildings built in the early 1900's there.
The town started out with the name Rat Portage. (The word "rat" actually referred to the many "Muskrats" that inhabited that area.) When the Red Rose Flour mill was in the plans to be built, the owners insisted that the name of the small town be changed. They knew they didn't dare put the word "rat" on a bag of flour and expect it to sell. So the town's name was changed to "Kenora".
So much prettier don't you think?
The weather has turned cooler here and I'm happy,
because that means I can enjoy a hot cup of tea again. There's nothing better than a hot cup of tea on a chilly, rainy morning.
The rain has stopped though, and the sky is blue!
It's 15 deg Celsius, (59 deg. F).
Have you begun your Fall decorating yet?
I see many bloggers have. I haven't as of yet, but I will soon.
Have a wonderful day!!
Cindy
PS Tomorrow my hubby and I will be celebrating our 22nd Wedding Anniversary!!!
He's still the love of my life and as handsome as ever!

Happy Anniversary!
What a beautiful place to spend the closing days of summer....I've never heard of "your" Lake of the Woods (though there is a lake called that down here....). I'm sure this one doesn't have as many islands as yours!
No. No fall decorating yet for me. But I'm thinking of it. :)
How wonderful! Happy anniversary Cindy, may you have many many happy years to come.

We always enjoy Kenora and surrounding areas, and have also been on that boat tour.
I aim to start my fall decor tomorrow, but I hate to see summer end.Thankfully the flowers are still blooming profusely.
Happy anniversary. I cannot believe the # of islands on that lake. It must be huge. I too could spend my summers on one of them.
Happy Anniversary, Cindy!! And, I can absolutely see why you would love a place like this!! Have a wonderful week! blessings ~ tanna

Happy Anniversary to you! I love your wedding photo. May you be blessed with many more years together! I enjoyed the visit to Lake of the Woods and Kenora. It looks like a very beautiful area to tour. Life on a tiny island would be interesting but I think I might get bored with nowhere to walk wouldn't you? Hugs, Pam
Happy Belated Anniversary...hope you had a wonderful celebration. Your lake pictures are stunning. I can't get over how blue the sky is. I agree about that cottage on the little island. How wonderful would that be? They must use solar power for everything. Hope all is well. It's cooler here too and I'm glad. Happy Sunday Cindy!

Happy Anniversary!

hope you had a blessed anniversary! It is funny because we did a similar thing on Labor day--we took a four hour boat ride (which included a 1 hour stop on an island). Ours was on a bay in Georgetown , SC and we could see different islands with plantation homes, wild pigs (ancestors of the pigs from the Spanish explorers), the island where the Marquis de La Fayette accidently landed when he was on his way to the Charleston , SC area....and we saw a lot of Bald Eagles and Eagles'nests, etc. I haven't taken the time to post about it --
Belated Happy Anniversary Cindy.
Thank you for these beautiful pictures. I would have enjoyed this boat ride so much.
This looks such a beautiful place...... so peaceful.
Hope you had a lovely anniversary celebration!
Have a happy week:)

Darling Cindy! So nice to hear from you!
Thank you, you're always so kind and generous with your comments. My new bedroom is really simply now, the bedside is the old one I had, and the only things new we bought are mattress and closet... But I'm happy!
You look so happily smiling in this photos! =)
hugs my darling
Silvia
Hello Cindy
thank you for the beautiful tour, so pretty there and looks so fresh and green.
Happy anniversary to you two.
I started a new blog, you should be able to get there from my profile if you want to visit.
Happy Anniversary Cindy. It's amazing how the years fly by isn't it - but they have been good to you. Glad that you enjoyed your daughter's visit and that you had such a pleasant day in Kenora. It looks like a beautiful place!
A belated happy anniversary, my friend! I hope that you had a wonderful day. I love the story about this small town and had to laugh about the "rat" flour thing...that wouldn't have gone over very well, would it?
Oh, and I forgot to tell you that I haven't started my fall decorating either. I just now changed my blog to feature some fall design but not the house. Our temps have been in the mid to high 90s so decorating for fall hasn't hit me yet but we are expecting a wonderful cool front to come in tomorrow so maybe that will put me in the mood :)
Oh I am sorry I missed this, hope you had a wonderful anniversary celebration.
Belated anniversary wishes! I enjoyed seeing your daughter and the beautiful views of the lake, island and homes. Such gorgeous weather, too.
Happy (late) Anniversary!!!
