Easy Peasy Recipe for Dinner Rolls

Happy Friday!
Okay, time is just going too fast, I can't keep up anymore. Do you ever feel like that?
Yesterday I made some super easy dinner rolls, you don't even have to knead or shape these, just plop them into muffin tins and they turn out so yummy! And they only take about an hour and a half from start to the "delish" finish.
I found the recipe over on Joyful Homemaking
these rolls are called Blender Light Rolls.

I would suggest that you make them the day that you expect to eat them, because they do tend to dry out quickly. They are so good, that I ate two and a half of them as soon as they came out of the oven! My tummy hasn't been feeling very good these last few days and that's the only thing that I wanted for supper last night, so that's what I had.
These would be so good with a big pot of soup.

I had one just now with a cup of tea, very yummy!

Have a good weekend my friends, and thanks so much for coming over and leaving a sweet comment. I will try to visit all of you over the weekend.

Love and hugs, Cindy

Do you remember the sweet little red and white tea cozy that Sue of Beach Bungalow made for me? Did I tell you that she has her own Etsy shop now and she has lots of unique crocheted items. Check it out if you're looking for something pretty. I am only telling you this because she is a sweet Canadian girl that I want to see do well with her shop, not because she has asked me to say it.

Small Bedrooms and the Winner!

If you've been reading my blog for very long you know that our cottage has about 900 sq ft on the main floor.  We have a basement with about the same sq ft there as well.  Most of the basement is a nicely finished space that my husband uses for his office and sitting room.  I am going to repaint it this year, then I will show it to you.
In a house this small, the bedrooms tend to be very small.  And that contributes to real problems sometimes.  I want my master bedroom to be attractive, naturally, but unfortunately I seem to be clueless as to how to make it so.
I've been prowling through Pinterest looking for inspiration.

Interior Design by Christina Murphy

This one is simple and pretty.  The mirrored doors on the closet are beautiful.  I wonder if that would work on my closet.

Interior Design by Tobi Tobin

I love the colors used in this one.  The light turquoise walls and black and white linens.  Very nice, also very masculine, which I really like.

I really LOVE everything about this one, but not too sure that my husband would appreciate a flowing bedspread.  The colors are nice and neutral.  The old wood door is gorgeous.  I have a nice headboard, it just needs a good coat of paint and it will be very nice.

Apartment Therapy

Isn't this one absolutely gorgeous?!?!   It makes my heart go pitter-patter, but I have a sneaky suspicion it would NOT do the same to my husband.  This room has about the same amount of space that I have to work with, though.  There isn't room at the end of my bed for a trunk, table or stool, though.
If this were my room, right directly behind the chair is where my closet is.  It covers the end wall, and is completely open to the room.  It drives me wild to have to look at the clothes.  We want to change it, but haven't come up with a workable solution yet.   Or should I say, an affordable solution, yet.

Apartment Therapy

This last one looks like it's a tiny bedroom, I love the chandelier, window treatments and the shelving.  I like the idea of using white bedding, too.

Now for the winner of my giveaway.  I used the random number generator and it's number 21, Ana!!!  Congratulations Ana, I will be sending the Spring Banner to you real soon.
Thank you to everyone who joined in and so sweetly wished me a Happy Birthday, you all added to my joy.
Thank you for coming by, I love reading the comments that you leave.

Have a wonderful day my friends,

Hugs, Cindy

Spring Banner Giveaway!!!

Hi everyone!
Thursday was my birthday and I woke up with an ugly sinus headache, so posting was out of the question, I was just trying to survive.  Perhaps it was the realization that I'm now 54 that made me sick, who knows, just a bad way to spend your birthday, that's all I know.  Then we were gone for three days, but I'm home now.

I want to show you a sweet little banner that I made on Wednesday, just in time to show off for Spring Time.

Would you like to win the Spring banner?
If you do, just leave a comment telling me that you would like to win.

Thank you to my oldest daughter and her family, who sent me a beautiful rose and chocolates, and my first big birthday balloon.  Does that mean the older I get the more I enjoy childish things?  Hmmmm?  It made my day, that's all I know.

Don't forget to leave me a comment if you would like an opportunity to win the banner!  If you don't have a blog, be sure to leave me your email address.
I will pick a name Tuesday evening.

I hope your weekend is going well!

Hugs,
Cindy

Fireplace Mantel

Hello my friends,
my fireplace mantel is finally finished and so...I have another before and after to show you!

This is the original fireplace in my 1927 Craftsman Bungalow.

Before:

This is what it looked like after my son, the bricklayer, refaced it with old re-claimed brick.  To see more about that go here.

The last thing that I wanted was a new mantel on the "new" fireplace.

After:

My husband built it, then I painted and glazed it a tiny bit. I'm thinking that perhaps it needs a little more glazing.

I'm also joining Knick of Time where they featured me this week!  Thanks so much to their lovely hostess, Angie!

Have a great week, my friends, and thanks so much for coming by!

Hugs,

Cindy

This pretty much concludes the makeover of my living room and eating area, it's been fun, but I'm glad to see it done.  Perhaps one day I'll do a before and after of the entire thing, it's come a long way, I think.

Another Win!

Hello my friends, I hope this finds you all well.
I have won another giveaway, this time from Linda, at Itsy Bits and Pieces.

These are so fun!  My mind is racing with all that I can do with them.

I used several old music sheets on this:

And I was needing more, now I have it!

Thank you, Linda!  I love it!!!

My sweet hubby built the fireplace mantle yesterday and I've been painting it today.  Hopefully, it will be finished tomorrow so I can post about it this week.

The weather has been so beautiful, it is 68 degrees F today, with lovely warm winds blowing.  That is 20 deg Celsius!  Everybody is smiling!!!

Before I go, I really must tell you about two fabulous giveaways that you must hop over to sign up for.

The first one is at Villabarnes, if you haven't visited Rosemary's blog before, you really must.  She re-purposes all kinds of things into gorgeous treasures.

The next one is Buttercup Counts Her Blessings, such a sweet little blog, and she is giving away A Turtle's Tale.

Have a lovely week and thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs,

Cindy

Lots of lovely stuff to play with!!!

Vintage Love

Happy Friday morning!
As you know, those of you who have been following me for some time now, I LOVE ViNtAgE goodies.
They remind me of simpler times, and they have such great color and or patina. This is where I have many of them, here on my old Canadiana dresser.

I love my Siamese cats, old camera and globes. And I adore the big, old frame that my neighbor gave me.  I painted it in turquoise, distressed it and stuck it up there, I think I like it.
This is my latest paint project.  The bathroom will be next, if my husband doesn't have time for my fireplace mantel before then, that is.

Yesterday was a brilliantly sunny day with temps in the 50's F and about 12 C.  Spring has definitely sprung here in Manitoba!

As you can see, I still have a bit of red in here.  I like the sharp contrast of red with creamy white.

I am joining Knick of Time blog hop party, they are having a very fun party over there. Check it out, they have some wonderful giveaways, too!

I hope your day is sunny and bright!

A Painted Vintage Suitcase

I love before and afters, don't you?  Well, I have one for you today.  Some of you may have already noticed this, but if not, then here's one of my favorite touches for my newly redone living room.

Before:

After:

Another night photo, it's way too yellow, so sorry.

This is what the color is really like.

I added a darker turquoise craft paint to a bit of kitchen wall paint and painted the suitcase. I used a walnut stain on the stripe and the leather edging.  I rather like it, what do you think of it?  I purchased this at a garage sale for $2.00 two years ago.

I also refinished the stool, painting it with my homemade chalk paint and applying stain to the caning in the middle of the stool.  I found the stool at a garage sale for about $2.00, also.

We have said good-bye to Old Man Winter.  I took this photo about a month ago, it's down by the river where everyone walks.  We never did get a lot of snow and this week has been warm and sunny and now the ground is nearly bare.  I have really enjoyed this Winter and I'm a little sad to see it go.

Just for fun, I am joining Restored It Wednesday.
It's found at Restore Interiors.
I'm also joining Nita at Mod Mix Monday,
and Knick of Time Tuesday .

I hope your weather is warm and sunny.

Hugs,
Cindy

Copy Cat

I don't join very many parties, but this is such fun and I love a challenge.

Today I want to show you a picture from one of my favorite books, The Twelve Teas of Celebration by Emilie Barnes and Paintings by Susan Rios.  A dear friend gave this copy to me when my husband was a Pastor in Langley, BC.
I fell in love with Susan Rios' paintings as soon as I saw them, they are all very cottage-y looking.
My favorite one is actually a Fall scene, which I'm not copying, but it's the feeling of the comfy wing-backs and the table cloth on the little table, with the fire in the fireplace.

Doesn't that have the warmest feeling to it?
Well, here's my copy of it.

Okay, I know it's not perfect, but I think it has the feeling, that I loved from Susan's painting.  And it's the feeling that I wanted to copy.

Please take a sip of your tea before it grows cold and help yourself to a Banana Muffin, they're very good.  It's one of the recipes that I got from Kim at Dear Daisy Cottage.  (I miss her, don't you?!)

I've been trying out iPiccy, I think I like it, I was able to put a watermark on my photo, which I have read that we all need to do.  I never have, though, but I think I shall from now on.
Also, my husband has traded his Nikon D60 in for a D80, I talked him into taking these photos for me.  I think he's a terrific photographer, thank you dear.  Yes, he does read my blog, does your sweetheart read your blog?

Have a wonderful week, my friends, and thank you so much for popping over and leaving a sweet comment.
I appreciate you!!!

Hugs,

Cindy

Some New Pictures On the Walls

Hi, I'm so glad you've come by today.

After painting my walls, I thought it was time to put something new on the walls.  So I went through all of the pictures that I have and took a good look at what I had on the walls and refilled all of the frames with something fresh.
Next to the armoire I put some vintage bird prints that I found in a book that was printed in 1969.  The name of the bird is printed on the bottom of each picture, which makes it nice.

From farther away.

And below is the other side, the sun was shining into the room so the quality is very poor due to reflections on the glass.

These frames below are the ones that I am most happy with, though, they are maps of where my husband and I were born.

The top one is a map of Saskatchewan and the second one is of Washington state.  A small part of it, that is.

From further back.

The color of my walls are fairly true in these photos, taking photos in the day time is a good idea.  I must remember that.

I notice that many are talking about Spring on their blogs.  Unfortunately we had blizzard conditions in my area today.  When the snow stopped, though, the sky was so blue!

I went out and took a photo of the icicles that are hanging off of our eaves.  Just look at how blue the sky is, oh how I love to see that!

Hopefully Spring is springing in your corner of the world, in North America and Europe at least.  Of course Australia is getting cooler weather and have Winter to look forward to now.

Have a lovely weekend and thanks so very much for coming by to say hi and leave your thoughts on what you have seen today.

Cindy

Both Slip-covers Are Finished

Here she is in her finery, my second slip-cover.   It turned out a little better than the first one and it did not take nearly as long to make it.

Before:

After:

The first one took about 18 hours, this one took about 9 hours all together.

Then I made the little vintage inspired pillows, that fabric is so 60's, it just kills me to look at it.  I can see it in my minds eye on a chair much like this one, only the pillow and the chair are in rust colors and I can faintly smell stale smoke.  A family friends home, obviously, not ours.
I love it, though, it is so retro.

I'm so happy to be finished with it.
I have also finished several other smaller projects, they will give me something to blog about over the next couple of weeks.
I feel like my little cottage is finally coming together, it's looking like I have envisioned it, for so long.
Finding new colors and painting the walls was the biggest challenge.  I'm very happy with all of the changes in the living room, a new paint job, the fireplace, the rug and the slip-covers.  Next comes the mantel, I won't be doing that, my husband will be, I will be waiting on him for that.

If you feel inspired to make slip-covers for the first time, I would advise you to go to Miss Mustard Seed's blog and watch her entire series starting here:

Video Slipcover Series Part 1 – Custom Piping

I cannot imagine what I would have done if I had not done that.  There are six parts and they are so very helpful.

Thank you so much for coming by, like many of you we still have Winter weather.  They say when you're handed a lemon, make lemon-aid, so when I'm handed Winter weather, I will go skating!  I'm hoping to do that now that I've completed my slip-covers.

Have a great day and thank you for coming by, my friends,

Cindy

Such a happy little pair of chairs, now.
