Thank you for all of your very kind comments regarding my bedroom makeover.
Some of you wondered about what it looked like "before".
So here goes.
A reminder of what it looks like now:
Headboard before:
This is how our room looked, it was nice enough, but the pink was not working for us.
And the ten year old knotty pine headboard left me "pining" for a change.
After:
Before:
Our curb-side find chest of drawers, minus the drawer pulls, in brass.
After:
I painted the drawer pulls white.
After:
The whole room.
I've kept the vintage chenille bedspread, and I made the white pillow slips as well as the checked slips and the monogrammed pillow. It was all made from fabric that I already had.
The only purchases made were with an Ikea gift card from my son and daughter-in-law.
The checked comforter at the end of the bed was $13.99, the single linen curtain panel was $2.00 and the shears were $15.99.
The paint was a quart of mis-tint grey that cost $7.50.
Not bad!
And I'm really happy with it.
I'm joining Dawn for her Budget Decorating Party.
Have a wonderful week!
In black and white!

Your room looks pretty! The grey and yellow looks nice and fresh.
It was pretty before but I do love the change! I still am amazed at the bargains you found and incorporated into the design. Wishing you a wonderful week.
Wow Cindy, what a difference. You did a great jog and on a budget.. Beautiful! Makes me want to paint something... Blessings!
It's such a pretty room. I have to say that my favourite transformations are like yours - the sort that owe more to ingenuity, imagination and elbow grease than a jaunt to an expensive decorators' shop. Well done!
Cindy
It was pretty before, but I understand how we tire of the same and want a change.
Amazing you were able to turn out such a gorgeous room for so little
LOVE IT!

Hello Cindy:
Looking at before and after pictures really does give one an idea of the scale of the transformation which you have effected in your bedroom. The result is, as we are sure you know, most attractive and pleasing.
Thank you so much for your comment on our latest post to which we have made reply. We shall hope to welcome you there again.
I do like the "after!" And such a thrifty transformation. Hope you have a good weekA
very pretty Cindy! your free dresser has the nicest shape and looks great with your paint job.
I am always impressed when big improvements are made with so little cash spent.
I love both, the before and the after! You have such a pretty room Cindy! Great job!
You did a beautiful job redecorating your bedroom. The old beat up dresser is now beautiful. I like the cost involved the best. Decorating on a dime!

Darling friend I love how your headboard turned!!! I like so much this point of gray (and I adore gray at all) and how you have coordinated also the courtains! Absolutely lovey!! Brrrrr you have a terrible freeze.... Here we have 0-3°C and wet, and it seems to me so enough chilly =)
Many many hugs sweetie

What happened to the quilt on the before bed picture? So pretty...I'm sure it's tucked away somewhere waiting to find a new home. You did a great job on all the painting. I just don't like to paint and do everything I can to avoid it! It sure does make a difference though. Enjoy your week my friend. :o)
