Tweaking the Fireplace Vignettes

How are you?
I'm so glad you stopped in today.
You know that feeling after you've created a vignette, that feeling of not having captured what you were after?
That was my feeling after I had finished my mantel.
I wasn't feeling it at all.
Back to the drawing board and now I'm happy.

Before

After

Much better.
I love the statues on either side of the books, they were given to us by a dear friend in BC.
They are of a woman and man praying.
They serve as a wonderful reminder for each day.

Yes, I'm happy now.
Come on over for a cup of Starbuck's Christmas Blend.
My husband brought me a package of their regular and decaf whole beans this morning.
Yummy!
I'm baking bread here shortly so you can have it with a piece of fresh bread, with homemade crab-apple butter on it.
It's stormy and cold outside today and this will be a cozy place to curl up.

Have a good weekend, my friends.

Cindy

That invitation is so tempting! Your mantel looks lovely - I really like the 'after' version!

Hi Cindy, love the new mantle, it's the heights on either side which give the mantle the wow factor, adding pieces with different heights and sizes does that! Enjoy your coffee and homemade bread! X

Oh how I wished you lived near by because I would so LOVE to join you for that cup of coffee and homemade bread. Your mantel looks beautiful Cindy! I love the antlers in the lantern. I'm hoping that we get some snow...it's suppose to be near 70 on Sunday!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend my sweet friend, Gail

Oooooooh...the coffee invitation is SO tempting. And your mantel is perfect now, I think. Adding the "height" to it and a little less matchy-matchy made such a difference!

Hi Cindy, I'll be right over for a cup of coffee and fresh bread. It sounds delicious my friend. I really like the new look of your mantle Cindy. It needed some height. Funny how we look at things and all of a sudden it hits us that it's not quite right. Love the look now! I hope you stay cozy inside out of the storm. It's sunny here with blue skies. A pretty winter day. Hugs, Pamela

Good Afternoon, I love your mantle and what a thoughtful gift from your friends the statues are. I adore Starbuck's coffee and oh, I imagine your bread with apple butter would melt in my mouth. Beautiful snow photo outside your home. We have light rain and 68 degrees this afternoon!!! Enjoy the weekend, Mildred

Mmmm...hot coffee and bread. I'd love to have some. If I didn't have to go so far!
The snow is beautiful. We haven't had much to speak of here. Around Dallas they had some at Christmas, actually all around North of us...but not here.

You mantel looks great! I liked the jub with the twigs, the clock and the books. I couldn't really tell what the statues were...but can tell now.
take care, stay warm, Pat

oH, I agree that is so much better--I love it. I also love the Starbucks Christmas blend. I finished one bag and have one left to go. It is one of my favorite coffees.

I too agree that the tweaking did the right job ;-) Coffee and home made bread sounds just right too! have a lovely weekend.

The new arrangement seems more substantial. I love the twigs in the old bottle. Mmmm fresh bread on a snowy day. I really need to practice making it more.

Cindy
I sure wish you were my neighbor and I could really pop over!
I like the 2nd arrangement better too. The balance of the 1st one was too perfect. Now if we were neighbors you could help me with my book shelf arrangements too!

Hi, Cindy!
Oh, the coffee sounds delightful, as does the homemade bread!
I like the way you turned the books for display on the mantel.
It's dreary and very rainy here today. The snow is about gone.

Yes Cindy, it's much nicer. gives the air of the house cozy and warm. (although I liked even before). I've covered all your last post, if only we lived closer I would come knocking for a cup of tea :)

I do that all the time. I put a vignette together and just keep tweaking it 'til it's just right. Sometimes it takes 3, 4, 5...100x Hee, Hee, Hee. Your mantel looks perfect. That's what I love about decorating, you can change it as many times as you like :-) Wishing you a wonderful weekend my friend. Sending warm hugs.

This all sounds so lovely Cindy.
I would love to pop in and have some coffee with fresh bread and crab-apple butter. It would be nice to feel a bit cooler for a little while.

I love your mantel decor, Cindy.. I find it one of the hardest things to decorate for some reason.. It sure sounds cozy at your house.. Was it the cinnamon raisin bread? The apple butter would be perfect with it..
Blessings sweet friend..

It's always good to follow your instincts when something just doesn't feel right. I love the change you made to your mantel vignette...very cozy.
I'd love to come over for a cup of coffee and some homemade bread (my weakness!) but I'm really under the weather and the trip is just a tad too far. ;)
Enjoy and stay warm!!

You got it all together now-looks great! Enjoy that coffee on these cold winter days-although it has been mild here lately.

Have a good week,
Carolyn

I know that feeling - I'm having trouble with my own mantel right now. Yours looks great, I love the change!

Your new mantel decor looks great. I like the taller items on each end. I think that's what made the difference. I do that all the time. I set something up and then stand back and think, no not right. It takes a lot of tweaking to get it right sometimes. Your snow covered street looks wonderful, btw!

Oh yes to your mantle change! I find mantles much harder to decorate than I anticipated/ Yours looks good. And do you have candles in those glass bottles? So pretty!
