It's My Day

Hello my friends.
I'm joining Random Five once again.

1. Today is my birthday!
I turned 55, and will now be eligible for a discount on meals in some restaurants.
(There's got to be an up-side somewhere.)
My sweet son, (the bricklayer) and his family took me out for dinner last night for the best ribs and barbecue ever!

Last Years Celebration

2. I'm a decorator "wanna-be". I have always loved a well ordered, beautiful home. I crave beauty.
As far back as I can remember I have been trying to beautify and rearrange accessories.
Imagine doing that in a home that has eight people living in it and four of them younger than myself.
When I was a child, my dear mom didn't mind clutter and didn't have the funds to beautify anything.
I can remember rearranging stacks of magazines and cleaning off end tables when I was very, very young.

3. I enjoy Starbucks coffee every day with half and half in it.
We buy the two pound bags and grind it fresh for each pot.

4.I LOVE cleanliness and a fresh smelling home.
(As I'm sure most people do.)

5.I love vintage items and most anything that reminds me of simpler times.

6. I love hugs!!!
(This one was free, because this is a random FIVE post.)

Check out A Rural Journal for more Random 5 Friday posts.

Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for coming by.
I love reading your comments.

I will be by to visit you later this weekend, we are now in the middle of our church minister's conference and I won't be around for a day or so.

Big hugs,

Bonne Fête Cindy!!
We have so much in common when I read your random 5. I spent so much time as a child re-arranging the house but then in my case it was my mother at the helm. We used to switch the livingroom and diningroom on a fairly regular basis. Wallpapering name it. And, I loved it.

Why, Happy Birthday, Cindy (you young thing, you)♥

I can tell that beauty and order go hand in hand in your lovely home. (I wish I was better at "clean" and "orderly". I have so much room for improvement and so little energy for it. That's my excuse.)

I am going to steal the clothespin display idea from you. That is a VERY sweet one, I think....

Happy Birthday to you Cindy! How thoughtful of your son to take you to dinner. :)

Your home is gorgeous! I would love a clean home like yours, but I am married to a pack rat, so it's tough sometimes.

Thank you so much for sharing at R5F today. I so enjoyed learning more about you!

Happy birthday, Cindy!

Hope you have a PERFECT day!

Happy Birthday, Cindy! Oh, 55, just a youngster! I'm sure your birthday dinner with your family was so nice. I've enjoyed your 5 things! I can just see you as a little girl playing house and doing things! Is that little picture you as a little girl? Your house looks so pretty and I always love to see what you're up to. Have a wonderful time at the pastor's conference!
You are the sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Happy Birthday! And hello...this is my first official time with Random 5 though I did it a couple of times without linking up. (shame!) Loved your list! Gotta say, we are on Nutri-System and not having half-and-half in my coffee every morning is a hard one! (Well, not bingeing on sweets anymore too is also hard, but, you think, creamy coffee is such a SMALL pleasure--why can't I do it!!!) Whah! :-)

Happy 55th! It sounds like you spent it in a wonderful way.

Happy Birthday! I think we would get on quite well! Your five seems very close to what my five would be. I especially relate to the part about beautifying stacks of clutter. =) And I love half and half in my coffee. The only thing is that I'm not the biggest hugger ever....maybe that comes from having 5 little ones--while I love them like crazy, sometimes I crave a bit of space--here's one for you though! <3

Happy happy Birthday, Cindy! Sounds like you had a great celebration with loved ones. Your home is so cozy and obviously cared for. I can identify with the rearranging and decorating as a young child too. Oh how I loved to organize closets.

I'm late, I'm late; for a very important date...!
Happy Birthday Cindy~ I almost missed it didn't I?
I giggled at the benefit of 55...senior discount meals, FUNNY!

I love this random five post. I feel like I know you better. My mom wasn't a home maker at all, and for years, I did well, 'prided myself' even.
But here I am now, doing much the same as her, and getting very little done in my home. I love seeing your home you are such an inspiration.
It makes me smile to see the clothes peg on your coffee table. :D

Happy belated birthday sweet Cindy and many blessings for your new year of life..hope it doesn't go by too fast, lol... I loved reading what you expressed about your feelings pertaining your home..I agree with you, I think I've been always like you, I love beauty, neatness and family; in the way I can and yes..I crave for simpler times, like when I was a kid in my mother's and gramother's time. Let's make the best of what we wish for inside our castles, which are our homes. I love your visits, thanks a ton! Enjoy your weekend.

Happy Birthday Cindy! I hope you had a fabulous day! I love a well-ordered and clean home too, but it's not always a reasonable goal with 2 kids, and 2 dogs! lol! I wish I lived closer because I would have given you a BIG hug and taken you out for lunch! I am a hugger too! Hugs are the best! Sending you a virtual birthday {{{hug}}}}! Angie xo

Hi, Cindy! This is my first visit to your blog. So nice to get to know a little about you.(Happy belated birthday!) A little about me: I was born and live in Indiana, but my grandfather was Canadian, so I feel like I have some roots there! I live in a cottage on a lake and love it! My love isn't coffee, but vanilla chai latte! And I love hugs, too, especially from my hubby and son! Stop on over at my blog, if you can.
