A Dining Room for Us

Hello my friends,
I want to thank you SO much for the overwhelming affirmation on my last post.
It was tremendously enjoyable to create and it came very easily.
I will try to do it again real soon.

The stories that I will tell are stories that my granny told me herself.

We have decided to make our little sunroom into a dining room.
Formerly it was a music room that never got used.

My hubby installed the chandelier that had formerly been in our kitchen eating area.

I am going to make slipcovers for my leather chairs out of my thrift store fabric.
I threw it over the chair so you could see it in here.
There is just enough and the whole lot of it cost only $7.99.
(Can you see how perfectly it goes with the yellow walls?)
I will be able to use red and turquoise in here as I have in the rest of the living area.
The bookshelf in the corner is going to my sewing room and my china cabinet is coming home and going on that wall, and it will be painted.
I'm not sure yet what colour it will be painted, probably white, though.
Or who knows, maybe I'll leave it as is.

I installed a circular frame on the ceiling to take the place of a too-ornate-for-our-home medallion.
The ceiling was a mess up there so it took some creative thinking to make it look this good.

And, I was in Ikea today where I found the dishes that I have been wanting in the AS-IS room!
These were $1.00 each.

There are 6 luncheon plates, five soup plates, and four large plates.

I'm going to use these as bread plates.
There are four of them and they each have a different scripture on them.
I received them as a gift on my birthday.

I hope your weather is beautiful and spring like.
Here, the sun is shining after a very big snowfall yesterday. And the snow is mostly melted away already too,
thank the Lord!!!

Blogger is not cooperating, so please ignore the crazy spacing of everything.
Thank you for coming by and leaving a sweet comment.

The sun room is going to make a perfect dining room Cindy. And I love the material you found for making slip covers. Perfect for your turquoise and red accents and they match the yellow walls too. I can see you will have fun decorating this room. It was sunny yesterday and most of today but raining tonight. Thankfully the weather is warming up a bit to more normal temperatures. Enjoy the sunshine in your sunroom! Hugs, Pam

Hi Cindy!
I love this yellow room...the fabric looks perfect. The frame on your ceiling? That is NOT a medallion, instead it is something your came up with on your own?
I love it.
It looks plain and simple enough...but a nice detail.

Blogger is messing had several repeat pictures. UNLIKE YOU. :)
Yahoo is messing up on me I'm unable to reply to any emails today!

oH... and the other thing... I really like the dishes with the scripture on them. Can't wait to see a table scape maybe in your new dining area?

Take care, Pat

Don't you just love the beginning stages of a project? So many idea's and inspriation and you just can't wait to get started. Look like you know exactly what you want to do and you have some wonderful items to work with like the table, chairs, lighting and I love the pop of the curtain rods against the yellow walls. Can't wait to see how this room looks once you've finished.

I feel like I have been away for ages. I've missed so much. I love your sewing projects...I love, love, love your Pearls of Wisdom post and I love your new dining room. Those chairs are going to go perfect in that room with their new slipcovers. I missed coming over. Feeling a little better but not 100%. I think my FM makes things worse :-( Thank you for stopping by and checking on me. You're a sweet friend.

Much love,

What a bright place for a dining room!
I used that very fabric to make a cover for my son and DIL's bench. I loved it then, as I do now.
I look forward to seeing it all finished after you have done your rearranging and sewing and added all your special touches.

What a wonderful roo to use as a dining room, Cindy! The windows make it so bright and the fabric for the chairs and the yellow walls are so cheerful. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's all finished.

We had snow again this week but today half of it melted. It's lots of good moisture for this very dry state so it's all good!
