Beautiful Winnipeg Collages

It is said that what people don't understand, they will criticize.

I think it's true in regards to my city.

I lived in BC in the large metropolis of
Vancouver for 18 years.
When we prepared to move to Winnipeg, many of the people that I talked to about it, could not understand why we would move to a city that had harsh Winters and mosquitoes.
Seemingly, that was all they knew about it.

But in truth, Winnipeg is a very beautiful city.
We have a population of about 700,000 and are on the edge of the prairies,
built in the middle of an urban forest.

I have shown you many photos of the four seasons and there is great beauty in all of them.
And one year we had mosquitoes, but they are not an ongoing problem.

While on my walk one day last week,
I took many photos and so I've made a couple of collages with them.

In the large photo directly above, the shiny path that you see through the trees is the sun reflecting on the Red River.
These were all taken with my iPhone 5.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the park-like area where I live.

Have a good day!

Cindy

Cindy
I did enjoy seeing your neighborhood!
I've been to Winnipeg a few times, but always in the busy traffic areas, so it's nice to see the side of it you appreciate.
I never realized you lived in Vancouver-oh my!

Hi Cindy, it looks beautiful and green and I love that you have harsh winters, so you can actually experience a real winter and appreciate the glory of the spring and summer afterwards. Looks like you have the best of everything there...thanks for posting these lovely pics of your city! Have a great week! Sharon x

Thanks for sharing images of Winnipeg, Cindy. I have been there several times. Though I am not intimately familiar with the neighbourhoods, I can certainly agree that Winnipeg is very beautiful in the summer time with lots of greenery and park lands. Have a wonderful week. xx

Those are some lovely parks, yards & views, Cindy! (And I like your turquoise touches from the last post, too.)

I've been gone and am catching up....so a little late to comment.

Cindy you have opened my eyes to the beauty of Winnipeg in your photos. I also think the way your friends did when you moved there as that's all the media portrays - cold, snowy winters and mosquito ridden summers. Your photos show a beautiful city with lovely mature neighbourhoods and I know the downtown is beautiful too as I've seen it 35 years ago and it's probably much more beautiful now! You have a lovely place to walk indeed! Have a wonderful day! Hugs, Pam

Thanks for sharing the pretty pictures! Our city has the distinction of four beautiful seasons and it's a blessing to enjoy the joys of each one as the days move along. Winnipeg is often at the receiving end of jokes about things like our winter temperatures (Winterpeg) and mosquitoes so large they should be the provincial bird...but I think we have the last laugh as the quality of life here is difficult to beat!

I don't know much about Canada, but I know more now than I did since I've been reading your posts. It seems to me that most any place has good qualities and less desirable qualities. We just need to enjoy the good things and not fret about the bad ones.

Your collages are so pretty. I've had fun using my iPad to take photos and free apps to make collages, mostly of my grands.

So pretty! Thank you, Cindy for asking about Mr D. He is not well at all & it's just to difficult to blog about it. I update on my Fleur Cottage face book page - you can find the link on the blog.

I'm not sure how I missed this post but I did enjoy a walk with you around your neighborhood. I've never heard those things about your city, but every place has some negatives among the positives and you certainly look for the positive! Great photos!

I suppose there are some places more pleasing to the eye than others, but I believe that there is beauty in ALL of God's creation! I love the beautiful pictures you have shared!
