Vintage Chairs Painted RED

The faster I go, the behinder I get.
Yes, I know "behinder" isn't a word, unless you're my sweet aunt Ruby,
it sounds like a word when she uses it.

I've been busy, I've just not been blogging about it.
Do you see my RED chairs?
I have to admit that I love them!

This is what they looked like "Before"

AFTER:
...once again...

I am amazed at the lovely vintage items I'm able to find when I'm shopping my local thrift stores.
The white doily under the old dog on the vintage radio was a find, as well as the pot holder hanging on the wall.
I only paid about $1.00 a piece for these.

The sun was blazing in just when I wanted to take a photo, but I don't want to complain about the lovely sunshine that we've enjoyed all summer long.

I have been searching for vintage canister, but finally gave up, simply because they cost too much. Instead I painted my white thrift store canister lids RED.

It makes me so happy to see RED showing up more and more, it's such a cheerful colour and I've needed some extra cheer lately.

See I told you RED was showing up unexpectedly!

I hope you're enjoying this last day of summer.
It's a beautiful warm and sunny day here!

One more red thing!

I want to show you a red dress that I made this summer.
It's a very quick and easy dress to make.
A woman told me on Sunday when I wore it last that I was wearing my "balloon" dress again...
I don't think I'll wear it again for a while...it's probably time to put it away until next spring anyway
or maybe I need to lose a few pounds...
or both.
Don't worry, I'm smiling.

I L O V E RED!

Love your red chairs and your sweet table setting. And, my dad must have been a friend of your aunt's because I grew up hearing the phrase "the hurrieder I go the behinder I get".

Your home is like a cake just coming out of the oven, warm and homey.

And I think your dress is gorgeous and you look great in it.

I love the red you painted your chair. It is a perfect addition to your red and white kitchen. I've been painting chairs too - they can make such a dramatic change, can't they.

I have to admit that red is not normally a color that I decorate with but I'm loving the touches I see in your home. I think that painting the chairs red was a great idea. Makes them really stand out against the window like that.
Balloon dress?? I don't know what I would think either. Lol. It is pretty!

Your red chairs could never be more beautiful in your gorgeous kitchen. I always have loved red...so cheery and happy. My, your kitchen is so chic. And I love your red dress. You made that! It looks lovely on you. Some people speak before they think. I would never call that a balloon dress.

Love, love, love all your reds.
What color paint did you use on the chairs? Also, I love the difference it made by adding the curtains!
Of course, I'm a red lover, too :)

I do love all the pops of red colour. Red is one of my favourite colours in the house and I think in the winter it brings a lot of cheer. I like your red and yellow dress too. Some people do stick their foot in their mouths, don't they? ;-)

Hi Cindy, lovely pops of colour and those red chairs are amazing! I love your red floral dress, I think it's very flattering, not ballooning at all? It's very pretty, don't stop wearing it! Unfortunately our weather has already turned and it is too cold for dresses without tights, at least for me it is...Have a lovely week! Sharon x

People do say strange things. I like your red dress! And your new red chair, as well as the other touches of red. They do brighten your kitchen. I saw somewhere else this week where someone painted the lids on their vintage cannisters! I've missed your posting! Glad you had such a good summer.

I am loving the red chairs and other reds you've added to your kitchen. Aren't those doilies and hot mats sweet? I have several of them too. I wish you lived in NB as I just gave away some canisters. They were in rough shape especially inside where rust had gotten a start but they were white with red geraniums on the outside and had red lids. I took them to VV and hope they find a home from there. :) I kept one or 2 for me that were in better shape. Also one that has red and pink tulip bouquets on it and a red lid! I like your tins with the red lids. They really pop! Hugs, Pam

Hi Cindy! I love red too and love the touches all around your sweet kitchen. Your chairs look totally different painted red. Your dress is lovely on you and I think I would have turned around and punched that lady right in the stomach for saying that! :) Well, I really wouldn't have but it feels good to say it! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Goodness! What an odd and unnecessary comment to make?

Well you know RED is my favorite of all colors! I love the canisters with the red lids - the totally look vintage. The red chairs are just gorgeous! Red is such a happy color isn't it!

Brilliant job on the canisters. My kitchen is red and yellow and I've been having a hard time as well. My kitchen isn't as cute as yours (yet), but thank you for some lovely inspiration, not only for my kitchen but for my novel and blog (girlinthejitterbugdress.com)Your new red dress is cute too :)

Hello!

You have been busy! Your pops of red are beautiful. Painting those canister lids was the best idea too. Even though they are vintage, making them fit your style makes them even more perfect. I always love seeing your kitchen!

Your red dress is very pretty as do your red chairs! I bought an old porch rocker at a thrift sale and also painted it a dark red--it looks so bright and cheerful on my porch. I also like the red lids you painted for for your canisters!

Rhonda said...

You certainly don't look like a balloon, maybe she thought the red color of the dress was like color of a red balloon.
You look pretty as a picture and so does your home.

I especially like how you made your canister set match your style.

We are fine here, just busy as always. :)

Yes, Yes, Yes! There is always room for more red! LOVE your chairs with there new coat of cheerful red. It's amazing how much better they look. They were cute before but now they are adorable. Looks great with all your other accents of red around the kitchen.

Loving the red throughout your kitchen and your newly painted chairs. Red always makes everything more sunnier...not sure if that's a word, but I'm sure Aunt Ruby would approve! ha

anangloinquebec said...

I think I too must have had an Aunt Ruby because that totally makes sense to me! Love those little expressions.
I have hits of red in my house too which I love. I think red is daring, happy and cozy all at the same time. I love it and certainly you know how to use it Cindy. Oh and the dress... cute, really cute.

Great reds, Cindy! And the dress looks terrific. Doesn't resemble a balloon in any way, shape or form to me...
