Vintage Sewing Machine Cabinet and Goings On

Hello my friends,
I'm back, I needed to take time off...
Life happens, I'm sure you know what I mean.

We had another successful Winnipeg give away day.
Look what my hubby found me!

Would you believe it is a sewing machine cabinet?
Do you see the pretty design on the front?
It holds my vintage canisters on top and my potatoes and onions are inside.

The last place that my grandkids and I visited this summer was the Royal Canadian Mint.
They are holding a gold bar that is worth thousands of dollars.
(Just to the left of them stands a security guard.)
There are three mints in Canada and this particular one makes only coins.
Besides making Canadian coins, it also produces coins for 75  countries in the world!

The Royal Canadian Mint sits in the middle of a very large field, shining like copper in the sun.

2012 was the last year that the Canadian penny was produced.
It cost more to produce it than it was worth.
As you can see, the kids really enjoyed themselves.

I saw this huge woodpecker today on my walk today!

I discovered that Winnipeg has a very large antique mall!
My friend Alayne and I spent several hours going through it this week.
This old sign caught my eye.
It's a fabulous store filled with four floors of architectural salvage, antique light fixtures, furniture and vintage items of all kinds.

My hubby and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary and we enjoyed a meal at the Peasant Cookery, pictured above.
Marissa had given us a gift card for it and we enjoyed it tremendously.
The restaurant is on the bottom floor.
It's a beautiful old building.

Our weather is still in the 70's every day. We've enjoyed a very beautiful hot summer, with very little rain.
Can't ask for much better than that!

I hope I haven't bored you to death.
Thank you so much for coming by.
Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Cindy, so nice to see a new post from you. I am happy to know you have had a good summer. We've enjoyed our summer too but ours has been hot at the end of it.

Beautiful cabinet!

About the security guard, he is out of the photo, right? And the security is not being enforced by the woman on the cell phone with the big purse on her shoulder? Or is she undercover? Yes, I am being silly.

I'm so...glad you're back!

Happy belated Anniversary to you and your hubby, Cindy! That sewing machine cabinet was a great find! And, very unique!

I keep thinking they will quit making our pennies, too... seems kind of sad. Your mint is very attractive emerging from the trees! blessings ~ tanna

I saw a woodpecker that big one time outside my backyard too, I thought he had taken steroids, he was huge! Then I found out there was a certain variety of them in our home state of Indiana. They were beautiful. Thanks for sharing. ♥

That sewing cabinet is gorgeous. I was wondering what was on the inside (hidden from view)
You know I have some canisters very similar to yours. I love them and only started using them about 4 years ago maybe(?) canisters. Before, I just used them for junk!
Now, they actually hold flour, tea, and coffee!
Your summer looks like it was filled with lots of fun and travel.
Congrats on your 23 years of marriage-- wishing you many more!

Delightful to hear about the variety of things you were busy with this's always great to be a tourist in your own home town and discover new things! The mint is a super place to visit and the grand children look like they were having a very enjoyable time. The antique mall was a place full of wonderful treasures waiting to be discovered and repurposed or loved 'as is'...another trip to explore its many corners would be fun. Wishing you and your sweetie a belated Happy Anniversary...may you share many more wonderful years together!

Welcome back! It looks like you had a great time and found some great treasures.

My neighbor is moving, so she has been having yard sales every weekend. Cindy, she was selling some of the best things from as far back as the 1920s. Vintage sewing patterns, coats from the 50s and 60s, a Singer sewing machine accompanied with an aquamarine sewing table, vintage canisters...oh! It was the best. I purchased an antique bar cart that I plan to store things on (in my kitchen), a beautiful red coat with fur trim, and a snazzy black handbag from the mid 80s.

Finding treasures seems to be a hobby of mine. :) I wish we lived closer because I know we'd have a grand ol' time!

Your grand kids look like they really enjoyed visiting the Mint -- I know our US penny also costs more than it is worth.
