Miracles DO Still Happen!

We witnessed a miracle that took place right in front of our eyes yesterday.
Ray, my husband, was driving to work and I was going with him so I could have the car.
We were stopped at a red light when we saw a young woman running across three lanes of traffic, directly in front of us.
She had two children with her. She had one by the hand and the other one was following behind her.
The one following her was a girl about 6 years of age, I'm guessing.
The woman could see that two lanes were stopped for the light, but what she could not see was that a van was racing down the outer lane.
But my husband could see it in his rear-view mirrors!

Ray shouted and honked for her to stop but she continued and just as I saw what he was shouting about I screamed at the top of my lungs "JESUS HELP THEM!"
The mom and first child got across with no problem, which is a miracle in itself, but the little girl was directly in the path of the van.
I remember seeing her fall to her knees and her little knees were about to be crushed by the wheel of the van...
but suddenly she bounced backwards and then she jumped up quickly.

By then Ray was out of the car and had her in his arms and gingerly carried her across to the sidewalk.
I did not see the angel, but I have NO doubt that there was an angel there that protected them, because the name of JESUS had been called on.
The paramedics arrived and soon after it, the ambulance, but she walked to the ambulance and she was taken to hospital.
I continue to pray for them, only God knows the rest of the story.

I don't usually talk about my faith on my blog, but, my friends, I felt like I needed to tell this story.
The word of God is clear about the power that is in the name of Jesus.
And it's also clear about the use of that name and who has the privilege of using it.
Not everyone does.
I'm so very grateful to the Lord for His protective hand that day.
All I could think and say afterward was "Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jesus".

I'm sure some of you have witnessed miracles such as this.
It's terrifying, but oh so wonderful to know the power that is in the name of JESUS!
It pays to read the word of God and stay on speaking terms with our sweet Lord, doesn't it.
Have a wonderful weekend and I pray that all of you know Jesus as the lover of your soul.

All of the above photos were taken down by the Red River that runs not far from our house.
The first one was taken at 3:30 in the afternoon yesterday.
I could not resist documenting, in photos, the setting of the sun a few days ago.
Unfortunately, they are not in correct sequence.

Mixing Fall Decor With Vintage items

It's really beginning to look like Fall here in Manitoba.
The temperature on Monday and Tuesday was in the 80's!!!
And it looks like today will be the same, it's already HOT outside!
I love this time of year.
And since I have added colour into my home's decor, there is no end to the wonderful things that can be
done.
I painted the little tool tray red, of course!
The lap blankets have come out and the pillows have been switched around.

I have put silk leaves and flowers in my old jars along side the vintage utensils.
Pumpkins have joined the plates.

Oh dear, please don't look at the painters tape that is holding my pot holder up.
It can't be seen normally, but I held my camera up to take the photo and there it was!

I found the Autumn print last year, I think.
I inserted it into a vintage frame that I had.

Another pumpkin has appeared in the vintage pyrex that I found at the Goodwill recently.
The Pyrex design is a jade colour with gold, perfect for Fall!

In the living room, there is another little bunch of silk leaves and fall-ish items in the lovely white urns that my oldest daughter gave me a few years ago.

I love colour!
Thank you so much for coming by and please, tell me,
what colours do you use at this time of year.

Vintage Chairs Painted RED

The faster I go, the behinder I get.
Yes, I know "behinder" isn't a word, unless you're my sweet aunt Ruby,
it sounds like a word when she uses it.

I've been busy, I've just not been blogging about it.
Do you see my RED chairs?
I have to admit that I love them!

This is what they looked like "Before"

AFTER:
...once again...

I am amazed at the lovely vintage items I'm able to find when I'm shopping my local thrift stores.
The white doily under the old dog on the vintage radio was a find, as well as the pot holder hanging on the wall.
I only paid about $1.00 a piece for these.

The sun was blazing in just when I wanted to take a photo, but I don't want to complain about the lovely sunshine that we've enjoyed all summer long.

I have been searching for vintage canister, but finally gave up, simply because they cost too much. Instead I painted my white thrift store canister lids RED.

It makes me so happy to see RED showing up more and more, it's such a cheerful colour and I've needed some extra cheer lately.

See I told you RED was showing up unexpectedly!

I hope you're enjoying this last day of summer.
It's a beautiful warm and sunny day here!

One more red thing!

I want to show you a red dress that I made this summer.
It's a very quick and easy dress to make.
A woman told me on Sunday when I wore it last that I was wearing my "balloon" dress again...
I don't think I'll wear it again for a while...it's probably time to put it away until next spring anyway
or maybe I need to lose a few pounds...
or both.
Don't worry, I'm smiling.

Vintage Sewing Machine Cabinet and Goings On

Hello my friends,
I'm back, I needed to take time off...
Life happens, I'm sure you know what I mean.

We had another successful Winnipeg give away day.
Look what my hubby found me!

Would you believe it is a sewing machine cabinet?
Do you see the pretty design on the front?
It holds my vintage canisters on top and my potatoes and onions are inside.

The last place that my grandkids and I visited this summer was the Royal Canadian Mint.
They are holding a gold bar that is worth thousands of dollars.
(Just to the left of them stands a security guard.)
There are three mints in Canada and this particular one makes only coins.
Besides making Canadian coins, it also produces coins for 75  countries in the world!

The Royal Canadian Mint sits in the middle of a very large field, shining like copper in the sun.

2012 was the last year that the Canadian penny was produced.
It cost more to produce it than it was worth.
As you can see, the kids really enjoyed themselves.

I saw this huge woodpecker today on my walk today!

I discovered that Winnipeg has a very large antique mall!
My friend Alayne and I spent several hours going through it this week.
This old sign caught my eye.
It's a fabulous store filled with four floors of architectural salvage, antique light fixtures, furniture and vintage items of all kinds.

My hubby and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary and we enjoyed a meal at the Peasant Cookery, pictured above.
Marissa had given us a gift card for it and we enjoyed it tremendously.
The restaurant is on the bottom floor.
It's a beautiful old building.

Our weather is still in the 70's every day. We've enjoyed a very beautiful hot summer, with very little rain.
Can't ask for much better than that!

I hope I haven't bored you to death.
Thank you so much for coming by.
Enjoy your weekend!
