A Vintage Play Room and Other Goings On

Hello my friends,
I know some of you have been wondering what was happening with us, because in my last post I told you that my husband and I have been preparing and training to become foster parents.
It was a long process, but we have accomplished it and a one year old boy and a two year old girl have been placed in our care.

They are achingly sweet.
A year ago I would never have guessed I would be doing this and loving it. God has some real surprises for us sometimes, doesn't he!

The new play room used to be my office/craft room, then it was a dining room, and now it's a play room.
I think this suits it best!
This is what the chairs looked like when I first got them.
They were thrift store items, of course, and for only $3.99 each!

They got a nice coat of RED and with a bit of distressing their cuteness shines through.

The table was an end table height, but I had hubby cut about six inches off of the centre part.
I need to paint the top of the table, but I will wait for warmer weather before I spray paint it.
Painting the red chairs was a real experience.
It is a story for another time.

This is the couch that was on my back porch, but with a new paint job and upholstery, it is RED and fits right in, doesn't it!

In other news...
The snow fall here as in most places this winter has been extreme.
Some of the snow banks are as tall as my six-foot tall husband.

The sun has been shining so beautifully that it's hard not to enjoy these busy days.
And busy they are!!!

Our ladies group enjoyed a lunch together recently.
Here are a few of them.
We are blessed.
God is so very, very good.
Thank you to those who have emailed me and left comments telling me that they are praying for me.
I appreciate it and I feel the strength that comes through a friends prayers.

I can't promise that I will get around to see you,
I will try though.

Winter Decor

Hello all,

We had a wonderful Christmas and I hope you all did too.

I know it's been a long time since I've blogged.
But, it is due to the fact that
our lives have recently become very busy.

I can only focus on one or maybe two things at a time. The first thing I've been focusing on is getting my house back to "normal" after the Christmas decor and parties.

The colour in this is terrible! It's in the same room as the photo below.

And the second thing I've been doing is getting my home ready and taking training for my new "job".

And what will that be, you may ask...well, we are going to become an emergency foster home for children who have come directly from being taken from their natural parents by CFS (Children and Family Services).

I love working with children and I love being at home, so I am putting these two things together and I will be a "foster mum" to two children at a time.

It is a very long and arduous process due to the training and such, but we are nearing the end, thankfully.

I may not be blogging as much from here on, but I will try to every once in a while.

Last Friday the youth leader in our church invited my husband and I to go skating with the youth group.
Our city has created one of the longest river skating trails in the world.
The temperature was about -10 C, it was very nice for skating.
The lights were twinkling, the cloud cover reflected the city lights back on us and it was a truly magical night!

It was nearing 9:00 at night in this photo,
and as you can see it was very bright outside.

Have a wonderful weekend and I will be around to visit you all over the next couple of days.
